How to Use AmeriPlan ® Health
|
As with any health program,
AmeriPlan ® Health has 4 parts;
- Primary Care Physician (PCP)
- Specialists
- Ancillary Care
- Patient Advocate
Below is the step by step for using each.
|
Once you become an
AmeriPlan
® member, you need to pick a family doctor in your area by following the "Find A Provider" link at the top of the page. When you are ready to go see them the first time, follow the procedure below.
- Call AmeriPlan ® - The phone number is 1-866-977-2477. Give them your member number and tell them you want to see your doctor. They will call your PCP and ensure they are taking new patients. They will also ensure the doctor's office knows how to bill you.
- Make Your Appointment - It's your turn to call your PCP. Make your first appointment and meet your new doctor! Bring your
AmeriPlan ® member card to your appointment.
- Pay the PCP - At the conclusion of the appointment, pay the discounted fee for their service.
|
|
That's It! If you don't like your doctor, pick another and follow the same steps. You only need to do this the first time; every time thereafter, the PCP's office will know how to bill you.
Specialists and Ancillary Care
|
Specialists are the doctors that specialize in one area (a heart doctor for example). Ancillary Care is the lab that does all your blood work. Your PCP will let you know if you need either of these services. The procedure for them both is the same.
- Find A Provider - Click the link at the top of the page to begin looking for the doctor or lab that you need.
- Call The Provider - Tell the doctor or lab that you are an AmeriPlan ® health member and make your appointment. Bring your member card with you; they will need to see it.
- Pay the Provider - You will receive the discounted AmeriPlan ® fee which you must pay at the time of service. In the case of blood work, your PCP can fax the request to the lab and you can pay the discounted fee at the PCP's office.
|
|
Should you ever need either of these services; your PCP can give you more information. AmeriPlan ® customer service is also available to answer any questions you or your doctor may have.
A patient advocate is assigned to you in the case of hospital confinement that costs more than $2,500. The advocate (The Karis Group) will negotiate with the hospital to reduce your bill.
- Call AmeriPlan ® - The phone number is 1-866-977-2477. Tell them you need the patient advocate service and they will mail or fax you a form needed for The Karis Group.
- Complete The Form - Once it's finished mail or fax it back to The Karis Group. The fax number and mailing address will be on the form.
- Pay the Bill - The Karis Group will assign a patient advocate to your case and they will work with the hospital to reduce your bill as much as possible. They will also arrange payments for you based on what you can afford to pay.
|
|
No one wants to be in this situation; but if it does happen, AmeriPlan ® health can save you thousands of dollars. The Karis Group negotiates on behalf of most large insurance companies and saves them millions.
